"If I'm breathing, I'm turkey hunting."
A patient of Michael Kenney's since he was 16 years old. "My prosthesis is critical to me. I refuse to stop moving." Brad lost his leg to an explosion. He has lived an active life raising his sons, lives in the country, hunts, and has an amazing inspirational outlooks in life.
I initially lost my leg as a child from a tumor. Eventually they had to take my leg off at the hip. For over 15 years I was not able to wear a prosthesis because I was told that I was “too complicated,” “it is not possible,” etc. When I found Motility Prosthetics, they began to work with me to find a solution. My prosthesis is very customized and incredible. I now can walk and I feel great. Just to be able to stand up gives me a sense of pride and hope.
I have 3 small children and rely on my prosthesis to care for them. After visiting a number of other facilities, I found Michael and he is the first who can build me a prosthesis that fits comfortably enough that I can stay up with my children.
Michael has been building my prosthesis for over 20 years. I run about 100 head of cattle, hunt and work hard. My prosthesis is very complicated to build because I have a lot of skin grafts. When Michael moved to New York I visited other prosthetic labs in the area. No one was willing to work with me to build a prosthesis that was this challenging. Michael has been driving back to Missouri to take care of me and now he is opening an office in Springfield again. I couldn't be more happy.
Lee lives close to a lake and loves to jet ski. The problem is he needs both legs to get into the lake and onto the jet ski. We worked with him to build a “water leg” or “lake leg.” Now when he gets out of the lake his primary prosthesis is dry and waiting for him. He can also use the “water leg” in a shower.
I am a new amputee. Motility came to my apartment and then visited me in the rehab center. They worked with the nurses and wound care doctors to help me heal and then stand to walk again. When I needed an adjustment, they even drove over on the 4th of July to see me in the West Memphis area. Now I am in Alaska and they are still working with me to make sure I am taken care of. Who knows, maybe they will come see me in Alaska!
I am a veteran and wanted a prosthesis that allowed me to walk as smoothly as Michael. Michael built me a prosthesis that matches my golf-cart and for the first time in years I am able to walk without pain.
"I am in hospice and no one wanted to help me with a prosthesis. Motility MLK Prosthetics came to my apartment, worked with my insurance company and has provided me with a leg. I can now stand and transfer in my apartment and take care of myself. They also helped me with shoes after another company gave me the wrong sized shoes and then wouldn't fix it because they couldn't bill insurance. I'm so grateful to Michael and Rita for their care."
A remarkable moment unfolds as a bilateral amputee, having lost his left leg below the knee and his right leg above the knee, receives his first below-knee (BK) prosthesis. This achievement marks his triumphant return to standing after a challenging year.
Clifford is a Veteran who moved to the Hot Springs area from New York. He is tough and has a high regard for excellence. The last prosthetic leg he received never fit, it was pretty but too big, the design did not contain him or hold him securely and he was not able to walk on the leg without falling or the leg falling off. Motility MLK Prosthetics provided him with a new AKA (above knee amputation) socket, and he stood and walked immediately. When we asked him how it felt, if it was cutting into him or uncomfortable in the areas at the top that supported him, he replied, “I almost hate to say the words…..It’s perfect.” He was almost too afraid of being disappointed to allow himself to realize he finally had a prosthetic leg that he could safely walk on.
This is the foot that I have. I love it and would not anything less.
